b. Vienna, April 18, 1918, 
d. Vienna, April 2, 1981, geographer and geologist, from 1951 
lecturer, from 1967 professor of geology at the University of 
Agricultural Science in Vienna, from 1969 professor of physical 
geography at the University of Vienna, 1970-1972 president of the 
Austrian Geographical Society. He was especially interested in the 
geology of the Quaternary, in geomorphology and in loess research.
