Firmian, Leopold Anton Graf#

b. Munich (Germany), May 27, 1679, d. Salzburg, Oct. 22, 1744, bishop. 1718 Bishop of Lavant, 1724 Bishop of Seckau, 1727 Bishop of Laibach and, in the same year, Archbishop of Salzburg. In 1731 he enacted the emigration decree, which led to the expulsion of 23,000 evangelical Protestants. J. W. v. Goethe referred to this event in "Hermann und Dorothea".
