b. Vienna, Feb. 28, 1860, 
d. Vienna, Nov. 20, 1914, mineralogist and geologist. Analysed 
magnesite rocks in Styria and discovered a mineral designated 
rumpfite. Worked as a teacher at grammar schools in Trieste from 1895 
and in Vienna from 1902. Wrote textbooks on natural history for 
secondary schools.
