Fischer, Cyrill (Johann), b. Schwarzenberg (Upper Austria), July 12, 1892, 
d. Santa Barbara (USA), May 11, 1945, sociologist, Franciscan friar. 
known for his writings against atheism, Austro-Marxism and National 
Socialism and for his works on the Christian upbringing of young 
people and on the Kinderfreunde charity. In 1938 he fled the country 
and went to Hungary, later to the USA. He was a friend of and 
religious adviser to F.  Werfel.
