Fischer, Wilhelm, b. Vienna, April 19, 1886, 
d. Innsbruck (Tyrol), Feb. 26, 1962, musicologist; pupil and 
assistant of G.  Adler; 1915 habilitation. From 1928 worked as 
lecturer at the University of Innsbruck, but was dismissed in 1938. 
Not reinstated at the University of Innsbruck until 1948 up to 1961. 
His works focused on the music of Viennese Classicism and the 
development of the classical style.
