!!!Flatz, Gebhard

b. Wolfurt (Vorarlberg), June 11, 1800, 
d. Bregenz (Vorarlberg), May 19, 1881, portraitist and painter of 
historical scenes; from 1829 portraitist in Innsbruck. From 1833-1838 
he lived in Rome, where his painting style was greatly influenced by 
the Nazarenes. After a short stay in Innsbruck he returned to Rome in 
1840, and from 1871 lived in Bregenz. Focused especially on religious 
paintings.
