b. Zvodava, Czech Republic (then Zwodau), Aug. 28, 1881, 
d. Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic (then Karlsbad), June 15, 1928, 
inventor, 1922-1928 Professor of Applied Chemistry at Leoben 
University of Mining and Metallurgy. Developed a device for the 
coal-mining industry which indicates the presence of firedamp and a 
coal drying process (Koeflach 1927).
