b. Cordignano (Italy), Oct. 9, 1795, 
d. Sacile (Italy), June 8, 1862, railway engineer. In 1836 
supervised the construction of the  Railway, Northern and became 
general manager of the state-run railways in 1842. F. compiled the 
programme for establishing the Austrian network of railways (including 
the   Semmering Railway).
