Frankenmarkt, Upper Austria, market town in the district of 
Voecklabruck, alt. 536 m, pop. 3,233, area 18.48 km%%sup 2/%, home of 
small and medium-sized businesses and industry on the River Voeckla 
south of the Kobernausserwald hills. - District court, youth welfare 
branch office of the District Commission, recreational centre, 
provincial forestry garden; 70 % of employment (1991) is in the 
production sector: automobile electronics plant, shoe manufacture, 
carbonated beverages, kitchen interiors, light-weight building board, 
screening technology (for the paper industry) and telecommunications, 
sawmill, metal works (fittings, specialised machinery for the 
packaging industry). - Late Gothic parish church redesigned in Baroque 
style (16%%sup th/% /17%%sup th/%  century) with rich Rococo stucco 
and frescoes dating from the end of the 16%%sup th/%  century.
