!!!Frankfurter, Bernhard
Frankfurter, Bernhard, b. Graz (Styria), Jan. 11, 1946,
d. Vienna, Feb. 2, 1999, director, author. While a
university student in Graz, founded the student movement
"Aktion" with G. Sperl in 1966; from 1970 editor of the
newly established news magazine "profil"; from 1972 employed
by the Austrian broadcasting corporation ORF. 1974-1985 numerous
low-budget film productions, focussing particularly on exile research
and the expulsion of Austrians between 1938 and 1945; until 1983
president of the Verband der oesterreichischen Filmregisseure
(Association of Austrian Film Directors). In the 1990s worked mainly
as a journalist and dramatist. His last project,
"Guertelbuch", a book about life along the Vienna Guertel,
remained unfinished.
