Frauenstein, Carinthia, municipality in the district of St. Veit an 
der Glan, alt. 630 m, pop. 3,311, Frauenstein Castle was built in 
1519-1521 on the foundations of an older construction and expanded in 
the 16%%sup th/%  century. Summer courtyard, coats of arms sculpted in 
stone, gravestone dating back to Roman times, interior with stucco 
facades and paintings (18%%sup th/%  century). The surroundings boast  
Kraig Castles, the ruins of Freiberg and Nussberg Castles, a late 
Gothic-Baroque parish church Obermuehlbach, and near Schaumboden, alt. 
1,183 m, a log-construction church.
