b. Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic (then Aussig), June 25, 1878, 
d. New York (USA), March 17, 1948, social-democratic politician 
and author. Came to Vienna in 1911 and played a leading role in the 
Austrian movement of women workers from 1919. In 1921 became president 
of the international cooperative women's guild. As Austrian 
representative, she was the sole woman delegate to the Committee of 
the League of Nations in 1928. After a temporary detention in 1934, 
emigrated to England in 1939 and moved to New York in 1947.
