d. Stuttgart, Germany, May 13, 1962; art historian. From 1911 in the 
''Staatsdenkmalamt ''(Government Office of Monuments), 1918-1931 
Professor at the University of Vienna, 1931-1945 at Breslau, Germany, 
(now Wroclaw, Poland), then at Stuttgart. Established the journal "Die 
Kunstdenkmaeler Oesterreichs" (Austria's Monuments of Art,  "Dehio"); 
published the "Wiener Jahrbuch fuer Kunstgeschichte" (Viennese 
Yearbook of Art History).
