!!!Frohnleiten Frohnleiten, Styria, market town in the district of Graz-Umgebung, alt. 438 m, pop. 5,095, area 22.64 km%%sup 2/%, situated on an elevated river terrace on the bank of the River Mur/Mura between Graz and Bruck an der Mur. - District court, health and social insurance agency, branch office of the Institute of Geophysics of Leoben University of Mining and Metallurgy, Volkshaus community centre, golf course, indoor sports hall, Laufnitzdorf river power station (built in 1931, 108,000 MWh) and Rabenstein (built in 1987, 63,000 MWh), Don Bosco day-care centre. Forestry - In 1991 approximately 66 % of employment was still in the production sector and timber processing (production of impregnated wood, paper and cardboard box production); steel component and portal construction, cast stone production, cement plant; some tourism. - Parish church (1679-1701) with Rococo interior (around 1764); Baroque column dedicated to the Virgin Mary (1732); former fortified market area (Leoben gate, Tabor gate); ruins of Pfannberg Castle, Neupfannberg Castle (1737) with English park and ossuary (around 1500) from the former village of Mauritzen. Further down the River Mur lies Adriach, a former Roman postal station, Romanesque-Gothic subsidiary church of St. Georg (1076-1786 parish church) with frescoes by J. A. Moelk and gravestones (15%%sup th/% -16%%sup th/% century), well-preserved Roman bridge (2%%sup nd/% -3%%sup rd/% century A.D.); south-west of Adriach Rabenstein palace (around 1670) with medieval castle ruins. The moated Weyer castle (13%%sup th/% century, renovations in the 16%%sup th/% -18%%sup th/% centuries) is located further up the River Mur at the beginning of the Gamsgraben ravine. !Literature O.
