Fuchs, Robert, b. Frauenthal an der Lassnitz (Styria), Feb. 15, 1847,
d. Vienna, Feb. 19, 1927, composer, brother of Johann Nepomuk Fuchs
(b. 1842). Highly successful with his orchestral works and was
promoted by J. Brahms. From 1875 conducted the concerts of the
Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna, was court organist from
1894-1905, and professor at the Vienna Conservatory from 1875-1912
(teacher of H. Wolf, F. Schreker, G. Mahler, F. Schmidt and J.
Sibelius).

2 Operas (Die Koenigsbraut, 1889; Die Teufelsglocke, 1893). 5
symphonies, 5 orchestra serenades, chamber music, sacred music,
lieder.
