Furrer, Beat, b. Schaffhausen (Switzerland), Dec. 6, 1954, 
composer, conductor. 1975 moved to Vienna, where he studied 
composition and conducting at the Hochschule fuer Musik (now 
University of Music and Performing Arts). 1985 founded the chamber 
ensemble Societe de l´Art Acoustique, now Klangforum Wien; since 
1992 professor of composition at the University of Music and Dramatic 
Arts in Graz. Internationally recognised composer and conductor of 
contemporary music.

groups); Ultimi Cori, 1989 (choir, 3 percussionists); Die Blinden, 
1989 (music theatre); Narcissus, 1994 (opera); Quartett, 1995 (4 
percussionists); Nuun, 1996 (2 pianos, orchestra); Stimmen, 1996 
(choir, orchestra).
