d. Graz (Styria), March 16, 1933, law graduate and leading Christian 
Socialist politician. Professor at the University of Graz; 1919 
representative of the Christian Socialists in the Austrian delegation 
at the peace negotiations in Saint Germain; 1919-1920 member of the 
Constituent National Assembly, 1920-1930 member of the Nationalrat, 
1928-1930 president of the Nationalrat. 1921/1922 Minister of Finance, 
1926/1927 Landeshauptmann of Styria.
