Gaissau, Vorarlberg, municipality in the district of Bregenz, alt. 
399 m, pop. 1,160, area 5.32 km%%sup 2/%, situated in a bend 
of the Old Rhine, close to the Swiss border. - Customs post, mission 
house of the St. Josef Monastery; production of coatings. In the 
vicinity characteristic reed belt of the Rhine delta (nature preserve 
and bird sanctuary).
