Galvanizing, electrolytic process for the production of a uniform 
corrosion-resistant coating of zinc on the surface of iron or steel 
objects; electro-gilding. Pioneered by Wilhelm Pfannhauser (1843-1922) 
in his factory in Vienna 1873.
