b. Sierning (Upper Austria), July 9, 1923, composer. 1964-1991 
professor at the Musikhochschule (now University of Music and 
Performing Arts) in Vienna , 1963-1973 head of the Wiener Schubertbund 
(Vienna Schubert Society), 1984-1990 president of the  AKM (Society of 
Authors, Composers & Music Publishers), since 1992 president of the 
Oesterreichischer  Komponistenbund (Austrian Society of Composers); 
numerous honours and awards.
