Geographische Gesellschaft, Oesterreichische (Austrian Geographical 
Society), founded as the Geographical Society (Geographische 
Gesellschaft) in Vienna in 1856, was supported by the court, the 
nobility, the provinces, the municipalities and entrepreneurs. It 
financed research trips and further offices in Graz, Klagenfurt, 
Salzburg and Innsbruck. Library, collection of maps, archives.
