b. Vienna, Sept. 1, 1822, d. Vienna, March 23, 1908, landscape 
painter and lithographer. Studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts 
as a student of L.  Kupelwieser and P. J. N.  Geiger. Famous 
for his landscape paintings of the Austrian Alps (illustration of the 
book "Oesterreichische Gebirgswelt" (Alpine Landscapes in Austria), 
1890).
