d. Vienna Oct. 27, 1925, conductor and composer. 1874 musical 
director of the Vienna Court Opera (conducted the première of 
"Tannhaeuser" at the Vienna Court Opera); conducted concerts held for 
Vienna society from 1880 onwards; 1884-1889 and 1898-1906 conductor of 
the Boston symphony concerts.
