Gerold, Carl, b. Vienna, June 12, 1783, 
d. Vienna, Sept. 23, 1854, printer. Introduced lithography into 
Austrian bookprinting  Book Printing in 1816, fought against the 
unlawful reproduction of German works in Austria and against 
censorship during the Premarch period in Germany from 1815 until the 
March 1848 revolution.
