!!!Gerstner, Anton

Gerstner, Anton, b. Fischamend (Lower Austria), May 15, 1823, 
d. Vienna, Feb. 1, 1898, confectioner. Apprenticeship together 
with F.  Raimund, founded a typically Viennese 
cake-shop-cum-coffeehouse in the Stock-im-Eisen-Platz near 
St.Stephen's in 1847 (later relocated to Kaerntner Strasse). From 1873 
Imperial and Royal Confectioner, family-owned for 3 generations until 
1954, and existing to this day. Co-founder of a college for 
confectioners.
