Health, Ministry of, established in 1972 as Ministry of Health and 
Environmental Protection. Between 1987 and 1990, health issues were on 
the agendas of a special minister in the Federal Chancellery. From 
1991 to 1996 it was called the Ministry of Health, Sport and Consumer 
Protection, from 1996 to1997 it was the Ministry of Health and 
Consumer Protection. The Ministry of Health was dissolved in 1997. Its 
affairs have been primarily transferred to the  Ministry of Social 
Affairs.
