b. Ebensee (Upper Austria), Nov. 29, 1909, d. Vienna, March 4, 1986, choir director. 1942-1945 musical director of the Vienna Boys' Choir, then deputy chorus-master of the Vienna State Opera; taught at the Musikhochschule (now University of Music and Performing Arts) in Vienna from 1961; from 1965 artistic director of the Vienna Boys' Choir. One of the most renowned chorus masters of the post-war era.
