Ginzel, Hubert, b. Liberec, Czech Republic (then Reichenberg), Sept. 17, 1874, 
d. Vienna, Nov. 24, 1950. Cartographer, officer, helped create the 
Austrian map 1 : 50,000; commander of the military surveying 
corps (1915-1918), in 1918 commander of the Institute for Military 
Geography, in 1919 head of the new Federal Office of Weights and 
Measures in Vienna.
