b. Linz (Upper Austria), Feb. 21, 1764, 
d. Linz, June 16, 1839, musician; father of Franz  Gloeggl Jr. In 1790 
municipal musical director in Linz, from 1790-1797 theatre director in 
Linz and Salzburg, in 1798 director of sacral music in Linz; founded 
the first school of music in Linz in 1797. His collection of 
instruments and sheet music was acquired by the Gesellschaft der 
Musikfreunde in Vienna in 1824.
