Glan, River, Carinthia, northwestern tributary of the Gurk river; very 
good water quality in the upper reaches (down to the town of Sankt 
Veit an der Glan), average flow of 10 m%%sup 3/%/sec. The River Glan 
rises near Lake Ossiach, flows through the picturesque valley of Obere 
Glan (ancient castles), surrounds the Zollfeld plains, flows through 
the town of Klagenfurt and the Klagenfurt basin and joins the River 
Gurk south of Klagenfurt.
