Gold, Ernest (real name: Ernst Goldner), b. Vienna, July 13, 
1921, d. Los Angeles (USA), March 17, 1999, composer. 
Emigrated to the USA in 1938; studied composition in New York and 
Hollywood. From 1946 arranger and from 1948 composer of film music; 
collaborated with the director Stanley Kramer for many years. 
1958-1960 musical director and conductor of the Santa Barbara Symphony 
Orchestra; founder of the Senior Citizens´ Orchestra of Los 
Angeles. Also wrote stage music for musicals and composed other works 
including sonatas, concertos and symphonies. Won an Oscar and 2 
Grammys for his film music to "Exodus" (O.  Preminger, 
1960).
