Gruenbach am Schneeberg, Lower Austria, market town in the district of 
Neunkirchen, alt. 557 m, pop. 1,852, area 7.37 km%%sup 2/%, 
popular destination for day trips (summer) and winter sports resort at 
the southern foot of the Hohe Wand mountain. - Formerly largest 
mineral coal mine in Austria (in use between 1827 and 1965), small 
private mining museum, Hohe Wand nature preserve with observation 
tower; production of air-conditioning plants, mainly commuter town 
(particularly commuters to Traiskirchen (Semperit tyre factory) and 
Ternitz). - Parish church with late Gothic choir and stellar vaults, 
Baroque alterations in1744.
