Graf. Forced to emigrate, worked in the USA from 1936 (Opera Company 
of Philadelphia, Metropolitan Opera in New York), 1960-1962 in Zurich 
and 1965-1973 in Geneva; guest director in Vienna and at the Salzburg 
Festival.
