Gratzer, Hans, b. Wiener Neustadt (Lower Austria), Oct. 16, 1941, 
actor, film director, theatre director; founded the Kammertheater in 
der Piaristengasse in 1963; acting engagements abroad and in Vienna 
(esp. in the Volkstheater, Burgtheater) and at the Salzburg Festival; 
founded the group "Werkstatt" at the Theater am Kaerntnertor in Vienna 
in 1973; opened the  Schauspielhaus, Das  in Vienna in 1978, director 
until 1987 and again 1991-2001. Special focus on classic plays by 
Modernist and contemporary playwrights. 1974 Kainz Medal.
