Breakthrough with the novel "Die Flucht zum gruenen Herrgott" (1930), the depiction of an idyll remote from the present. Her "Heimatromane" (sentimental regional literature) became a mouthpiece of Nazi ideology ("Das Feuermandl", 1935), which G. publicly supported after 1938. After 1945 active only as an author of young people's books and as an artist.
