b. Bratislava, Slovakia (then Pressburg), Dec. 23, 1946, singer, Kammersaengerin (coloratura soprano). Debut in 1970 at the Vienna State Opera as Queen of the Night, since 1972 member of the State Opera company. Performances at the Salzburg Festival, numerous international guest performances and recordings. One of the world's best coloratura sopranos; specialises in Italian opera (Bellini, Donizetti, Rossini, Verdi), W. A. Mozart and R. Strauss.
