Gurlitt, Ludwig, b. Vienna, May 31, 1855, 
d. Freudenstadt (Germany), July 12, 1931, educational theorist 
and author, numerous writings supporting "natural education" based on 
the needs of the child. The "Wandervogel" movement developed at the 
Berlin-Steglitz Gymnasium secondary school and among his pupils.
