Housing Census, one of the large-scale censuses conducted by the 
Austrian Central Statistical Office. The first housing census in 
Austria was carried out in 1590/91, first numbering in 1770. Since 
1869 the housing census has been conducted together with the 
population census every 10 years; it provides important information on 
the number, age and furnishing of flats and houses.
