b. Kirchdorf an der Krems (Lower Austria), April 6, 1853, 
d. Vienna, Feb. 26, 1922, educationalist, philosopher, psychologist, 
university professor in Prague and Vienna; as a grammar-school 
teacher, together with A.  Meinong, he  prevented the abolition of 
"philosophical propaedeutics" as a subject; was an excellent science 
teacher and one of the first theoreticians of Gestalt psychology.
