d. Vienna, April 27, 1987, Kammerschauspieler, son of Hanns  
Hoerbiger, brother of Paul  Hoerbiger, from 1935 husband of Paula  
Wessely, father of Elisabeth  Orth, Christiane  Hoerbiger und Maresa  
Hoerbiger; 1919 debut as an actor, after performances at provincial 
theatres worked at the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna 1928-1950; 
great successes in Berlin and as guest actor at the Vienna 
Volkstheater; 1950-1975 member of the Burgtheater company. 1935-1938 
and 1947-1950 the part of "Jedermann" at the Salzburg Festival. 1985 
gave his last performance as Winter in F. Raimund´s "Der Diamant 
des Geisterkoenigs". Also film and television work. Awards: 1959 Kainz 
Medal, 1966 Grillparzer Ring, 1971 honorary member of the Burgtheater 
company, 1980 Nestroy Ring, 1985 Raimund Ring.
