Hoerbranz, Vorarlberg, municipality in the district of Bregenz, alt. 
426 m, pop. 5,566 (1981: pop. 4,997), area 8.73 km%%sup 2/%, 
north of Bregenz, in the fruit-growing region of the Leiblachtal 
valley. Residential home of the Lebenshilfe welfare organisation, 
pumping and gauging station of the Rheinische 
Oelleitungsges. m. b. H., customs office and customs 
authority department, Leiblachtalsaal hall (communication centre and 
venue of various events), girls´ boarding school of the 
Berufsschule fuer Gastgewerbe (hotel and catering vocational school). 
1,585 employed persons (1991) of which about 55 % in the 
manufacturing industry: sports equipment (tennis rackets, golf clubs), 
starch factory, machine and plant manufacturing, textile finishing, 
plastics industry, dairy, wide range of businesses. Trade (gaskets), 
international forwarding agents, transport industry, summer tourism 
(25,825 overnight stays). First documented mention 802, became part of 
Austria in 1523; late-Classicist parish church (consecrated 1855); 
former Salvator theological college with church (1903/04) in 
Alberloch; Herrenmuehle mill (first documented mention in 1536).
