Haas, Philipp, b. Vienna, June 7, 1791, 
d. Bad Voeslau (Lower Austria), May 31, 1870, industrialist, 1825 
began producing fabric for clothes in his own workshop after 
graduating from the "Manufakturzeichenschule" (Manufacture School for 
Drawing), 1831 furnishing fabric and 1845 carpets; after his sons 
Eduard H. (1827-1880) and Robert H. (1825-1876) entered the company in 
1851 the name of the business, which existed until 1982, was changed 
to "P. H. & Soehne".
