b. Mosonmagyaróvár, Hungary (then Ungarisch-Altenburg), Nov. 28, 1854, 
d. Berlin (Germany), Jan. 30, 1945, botanist; son of Friedrich  
Haberlandt, brother of Michael  Haberlandt. University professor in 
Graz and Berlin; founded the Institute for Plant Physiology in Berlin 
and physiological plant anatomy; discovered the system of sensory 
receptors in plants.
