b. Oberplan (Horní Planá, Czech Republic), Oct. 18, 1833, 
d. Gmunden, (Upper Austria), Sept. 1, 1896, teacher, church musician, 
organist. From 1861 organist at Gmunden; as the head of the 
Oberoesterreichischer Caecilienverein founded by him, strongly opposed 
F. Haberl's Allgemeiner Caecilienverein and fought for the continued 
use of instrumental music in church services. Published the  
Zeitschrift fuer katholische Kirchenmusik (Catholic Church Music 
magazine)(1868-83).
