Haekel, Josef, b. Vienna, June 17, 1907, 
d. Vienna, Nov. 2, 1973, ethnologist. 1950 university professor, 
1957-1973 head of the Institute for Ethnology in Vienna. 1949 studied 
in the USA, 1954 in Brazil, 1956 in Mexiko, 1960/61 in India. Expert 
on the history of the North American Indian Tribes and on religious 
ethnology.
