Haeusserman, Ernst, b. Leipzig (Germany), June 3, 1916, 
d. Vienna, June 11, 1984, theatre manager, director, film producer; 
son of the actor Reinhold Haeussermann (1884-1947), husband of S.  
Nicoletti; 1933-1938 member of the Vienna Burgtheater, 1939-1943 
assistant to M.  Reinhardt in Hollywood, 1945-1949 programme director 
of the Rot-Weiss-Rot US broadcasting station in Salzburg, 1948-1953 
head of the departments of film, theatre and music of the US embassy 
in Vienna; 1954-1958 with F.  Stoss, 1977-1984 exclusive manager of 
the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna; 1959-1968 director of the 
Vienna Burgtheater (world tour in 1968); 1961 member of the board of 
directors at the Salzburg Festival; from 1965 professor at the Academy 
of Music and Performing Arts; from 1975 (together with M.  Prawy) head 
of the Institute of Cultural Management; numerous awards (1968 
honorary member of the Burgtheater).
