Hagengebirge Mountains, karstic massif in the Salzburg limestone Alps, 
part of the Berchtesgaden Alps, between River Salzach and Lake 
Koenigssee (Bavaria), reaches heights of 2,362 m in the Grosses 
Teufelshorn and 2,350 m in the Kahlersberg; connected to the 
Steinernes Meer plateau via the Teufelshoerner, separated from the 
Tennengebirge mountain range in the east by the Salzachtal valley. Its 
western range forms the border between Austria and Germany. Accessible 
via Werfen and Golling. Baerenloch cave at the Bluntau waterfalls. 
Caves: Jaegerbrunntrog cave system, Tantalhoehle, Zentrumshoehle, 
Scheukofen. Large population of chamois and ibex.
