Halbenrain, Styria, market town in the district of Radkersburg, alt. 
223 m, pop. 1,946, area 38.55 km%%sup 2/%, in southern Styria 
north-west of Radkersburg, close to the border with Slovenia. - 
Schools: landwirtschaftliche Fachschule (college of agriculture); 
customs authority department (in Unterpurkla); viniculture, 
manufacture and sale of furniture, concrete factory, mill and mixed 
feed mill, supraregional large-scale waste tip (domestic and 
industrial waste from all over Styria). - Baroque parish church 
(consecrated in 1717) with tomb of the Stuergkh family, Halbenrain 
Castle (re-construction 16%%sup th/%  - 17%%sup th/%  century), 
largely renewed after a fire in 1767. "Natur- und heimatkundlicher 
Grenzlandspeicher" documentation centre.
