Hampel, Sigmund Walter, b. Vienna, July 17, 1867, 
d. Nussdorf am Attersee (Upper Austria), Jan. 17, 1949, painter 
of genre scenes flowers and portraits, son of the glass painter 
Wilhelm H. Expelled after frequent displays of opposition towards his 
teaching institutions (Austrian National School of Trade, Academy in 
Vienna), continued his education in self-study. His pictures are 
marked by outstanding technical ability which is evident especially in 
the pointillist style of his glimmering "gold bronze drawings".
