b. St. Lambrecht (Styria), Oct. 30, 1808, 
d. Mariahof (Styria), Jan. 2, 1892, ornithologist, Benedictine monk. 
Explored the flight of birds especially in the area around Lake 
Furtner on the Neumarkt saddle. Founder of the Department of 
Ornithology at the museum of St. Lambrecht monastery, for which he 
collected and preserved more than 2,000 birds.
